In Greek mythology, Atropos (pronounced /ˈætrəpɒs/) (from Greek Άτροπος, "without turn") was one of the three Moirae, goddesses of fate and destiny. Her Roman equivalent was Morta.

Atropos was the oldest of the Three Fates, and was known as the "inflexible" or "inevitable". It was Atropos who chose the mechanism of death and ended the life of each mortal by cutting their thread with her "abhorred shears". She worked along with her two sisters, Clotho, who spun the thread, and Lachesis, who measured the length.

In my version of Atropos as timekeeper i depicted her at work with mechanisms pertaining to "time"...she is here the controller of life(mother nature) and death... she reworks 'old clocks"9lives), and controls the span of living and death...in her table are symbols of life(the egg), death(the skull), and the fleetingness of life (the candle)The clocks on her table are the lives of men, mortals so to speak who are at the mercy of her forces...(mother nature)

heralding her above are ouroborus snakes about to consume the sun...symbolising the regenerations of life and death, the cycle of her system, and her role as timekeeper...
